The short answer
RapidHeat is not a garage heater and we will not pretend otherwise. A 1,500 W plug-in unit cannot heat a typical uninsulated 20–30 m² Canadian garage — that needs a hard-wired 240 V or vented gas heater. RapidHeat does work in a small insulated garage workshop of about 12 m², or as spot warmth at a bench, and it is excellent in the bedroom, office or basement rooms inside the house.

Why the limit exists
A standard Canadian 120 V household circuit can only deliver so much power, and a garage loses heat through a large, poorly insulated door and slab. The physics does not care about marketing claims: a plug-in unit adds a modest amount of heat per hour, which a leaky garage sheds immediately.
For a large or uninsulated garage you want a dedicated 240 V unit heater or a vented gas heater, professionally installed. For a small insulated work area, RapidHeat is a genuinely good, cheap answer.

The honest answer about garages
We sell heaters, and we are still going to tell you this: RapidHeat is not a garage heater. A typical Canadian single garage is 20–30 m² with uninsulated walls, an uninsulated door and a concrete slab that stays near freezing. A 1,500 W plug-in unit cannot keep up with that, and running it there will disappoint you.
For a garage you want a hard-wired 240 V unit, a propane or natural-gas heater with proper ventilation, or insulation work before any heater at all.
When a plug-in heater does help in a garage
- An insulated, finished garage workshop of roughly 12 m² that you have partitioned off
- Spot warmth at a workbench while you work, rather than heating the whole bay
- A garage that is already partly heated and needs topping up in one corner
- Taking the chill off a small insulated shed or bike room
What to buy instead for a full garage
For 20 m² or more of uninsulated space, look at a 240 V hard-wired garage heater of 4,000–7,500 W installed by an electrician, or a vented gas unit. Both cost more upfront and both will actually work.
Before spending on either, insulating the garage door and walls usually returns more comfort per dollar than any heater does.
